Make Sure Your Water Is The Best It Can Be

Drinking water can be safe while still tasting a little off. Sometimes running water through a filtration system can remove minerals or contaminants that affect the flavor and clarity of the water. The right drinking water filtration systems can improve your water for drinking as well as reducing stains, and damage to your plumbing.

Filter Systems

Filter systems come in many sizes and configurations. Whole house systems filter all the water coming into the house, protecting your plumbing by removing contaminants before they get into the pipes. Smaller filter systems are available to purify the water on a single fixture if you only need filtered water in a specific location. Choosing the right system for your needs is the first step in setting up any filtration system.

Sand and Charcoal

One of the most common filtration systems on the market is a multi-stage system that uses sand and activated charcoal to filter out contaminants from the water. The system may also use salt as a third media to help balance the PH of the water after filtering it. The system does not require a lot of maintenance, but the media inside will need changing. The control panel on the system will let you know when it is time to do that and you can have the filtration company come to do it for you if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

System Installation

Installing a filtration system in your home is not difficult but hiring a filtration company for the installation is the best option. The technicians know how to set the system up, plumb it into your home, and connect the electrical portion of the system as well. Once the system is running, the tech will test the water several times to verify that the system is filtering the right things out of the water. If it is not, they will make adjustments to the system until it is working the way you need it to be.

Single Fixture Filters

Single fixture filtration systems can be installed under the sink, and most homeowners can do it themselves. Since the system uses a cartridge filter, maintaining these systems only requires removing the filter and replacing it with a new one. The life of the filter will depend on the amount of water filtered with you will have to refer to the manufacturer's recommendations. Most of these cartridge filters will last for several months, and multi-cartridge systems that use several filters to split the work may last longer.
