Promoting Your Business: What Approach Will You Use?

Posted on: 18 October 2018

Marketing 101 states that every person engaged in business has to promote what they do or they will fail. As you have just started a new business, and you really want it to succeed, how are you going to promote it? Commercials on TV are expensive, so you do not want to blow your entire promotional budget on one or two commercials that possibly only a small number of people will see. The same goes for infomercials, which would be great, but again, the airing time and cost to produce an infomercial is one that you cannot afford just yet. So, what approach will you use? To help you get started, try one or more of the following approaches.

Trade Shows

In the beginning, trade shows are definitely a good idea. You can get a lot of exposure for your business by having a simple booth in a trade show. The cost is rather minimal, too, ranging from $50 to $300 for booth spots in each show. If you can hit all of the lower-priced trade show spots in multiple shows, you can keep your promotional budget low while getting a lot of exposure for your business.

Promotional Product Distributors and Promotional Products

You could also have several different promotional products made. Pens, pencils, t-shirts, stickers, bumper stickers, erasers, stress balls, and a whole host of other products can be imprinted with your business's name and contact information. For more information on how the process works and the options available, contact a promotional product distributor.

Once you have ordered your products, you can either choose to give them out for free when you encounter people who are interested in knowing more about your business, or you can include them in goody bags when you sponsor charity events like marathons. In fact, sponsoring a sports team or charity event is another way to get your name out there because your business is imprinted on everything.

Sponsoring a Sports Team or Charity Event

A lot of new businesses—and old ones—will sponsor a sports team. Usually, the team is a little league, tag football, or some other kids' sport. The kids wear jerseys or shirts with your company's name on them, which means that the parents also become familiar with what you do. Other adults in attendance at these games learn about your sponsorship and business as well. Sponsoring a charity event does the same thing for your business. It gives it plenty of exposure, but it also shines a positive spotlight on your business.
